Many people have difficulty sleeping at night which can be due to many reasons. This can be due to job shifts, long working hours, stress or just insomnia hitting you. Any of these reasons could be hampering your sleep patterns. Disturbed sleep can make you cranky all day long. It can also plunge your productivity at work the next day as your brain cannot work properly if has not taken proper sleep.

Do not delay It
First and the foremost thing is to balance your routine. If you are intentionally not sleeping on time because you want to watch one more episode of your favorite show, you are mistreating your body. Plan your day and try and sleep for at least 8 hours every night.
Choose the right hours
Unless the reason is inevitable, do not choose to sleep late and then wake up late in the morning. At the night hours, its all dark and quiet and this is how it is supposed to be when you sleep. Early mornings are usually disturbed with noises from everywhere and light coming in through the windows and doors. Quality sleep can only be achieved at night. Mornings are anyhow for an active start.
The essential oils have proven benefits in inducing sleep. Before you go to bed, just use some diffuser with lavender oil and you will find your mind relaxed and eventually, your body will also go into the relaxation mode. This induces sleep and is also used for getting deep sleep.
Ayurveda has it that there is nothing more beneficial than a good head massage before sleep. You can use room temperature coconut oil for this. If you have to go to work the next day and are not planning to wash your hair the next morning, massage your feet instead. Take sesame oil and massage your feet. As per Ayurveda, it balances the Vata and thus regulated breathing and circulation in your body.
There has been a lot of controversy about having warm milk at night. For the best we know, it always always always help to get deep sleep. Warm milk improves your slumber by stimulating the effects of tryptophan on the brain. This chemical manages your sleep-wake cycle.
The chamomile herb is known to reduce muscle tension, anxiety and also easies the digestion process. If anxiety or stress is one of the reasons why you are not getting enough sleep, sip on to some chamomile tea before going to bed.
Adjust your surroundings in a way that it triggers your sleep. Fix the night skincare routine, it will give you a feeling that you are prepping to hit the sack! Keep the lights off or very dim, take a thin pillow, put clean sheets and play some soothing music (only if you like). Do not use any gadgets for at least half an hour before you are planning to sleep. You can read a book (no we don’t mean e-book) if you want but keep your gadgets away.
